Who is a Nigerian Navy?

The Nigerian Navy (NN) is the Marine arm of the Nigeria Armed Forces. There sole responsibility is protecting the Nigeria water territory.

The Nigerian Navy was established in 1914. It was refer to Nigeria marine before. It was later called Nigeria naval force. The force was trained by the Royal Navy Officer.

The Navy force headquarters command is located in Abuja with other operational commands in Bayelsa, Calabar, and Lagos state. Nigerian Navy is considered the largest in West Africa in terms of its workforce and technicality

The ranks are in two categories which are: the commissioned officers and non commissioned officers.

The commissioned officers are those who went to Nigeria Defense Academy, Kaduna. They graduated from there and some are graduate of prestigious universities. Incredibly, some are shortlisted from the Direct short service commission.

The non commissioned officers are those that are trained for like 6 month and are recruited from the usual advertised recruitment exercise of the Nigerian Navy. They earn lesser than the commissioned officers.
